Style Focus: Spring/Summer hair trends 2024
Oh spring, how we’ve missed you… New season, new hair? Oh yes, absolutely! With winter out of the way, it’s time for a change. From cuts to colours, we speak to our stylists across the cities to get their 2 cents on what to go for this spring / summer.
Lived-in balayages / Scandi hairline
“When it comes to colour I’m definitely noticing people are requesting more lived in balayages”, says our Shoreditch senior stylist Sher, “starting around ear level with soft ribbon like face framing, not like the heavy band of face frame we were seeing previous years. Tone wise I’d say we’re sitting directly in the middle of gold and ash.”
A trend in parallel to the lived-in look is just getting the face framing layers a touch of sun-kissed lightening, also referred to as the Scandi hairline look.
Kitty cuts
We’ve talked about this layered bob style cut in our previous article but ‘Kitty’ haircuts are a firm haircut favourite for this summer.
Bobs with texture and volume
Our Barbican senior stylist Becky sees this trusty haircut not going out of style this season. It will be present in a version with more volume and texture, with the Grunge bob and Short Textured Shaggy bob being the iterations of choice. Blunt bobs keep going but with added texture. Our Brooklyn director Kaori agrees here, still seeing a strong demand for bobs with our without texture.
Going with that trend to add volume, Becky sees curly haircuts move towards emphasising this with slightly shorter and more rounded cuts.
Wavy to big 90s styling
Going back to tones, Sher sees beige tones and bright beach blondes on the rise, all being paired with either more natural wavy styling or a 90’s big brush blowout.
Mix and match
“We’re seeing lots of demand for bobs, warm blonde tones blonde and bangs”, says our Brooklyn director Kaori. “Whilst there isn’t a strong trend to pinpoint here in Brooklyn, clients mix and match to make a certain style or haircut their own”.
