As a hairdresser in the Clerkenwell / Farringdon area we’ve been delivering sharp hair cuts and lush hair colours to this creative hub of London since 2005. From short hairstyles to long smooth balayage, each hair stylist in our Barbican team is there to get you the look you’re after.
You’ll find our salon on Goswell Road, surrounded by big names of the industry such as Zaha Hadid Architects and Vitra. Full of inspiring furniture and design stores, it’s certainly a great area to explore. Also, London’s biggest annual design event ‘Clerkenwell Design Week‘ can be found right on our doorstep. Delicious food and drink in the vicinity as well, from our neighbours Street Coffee to the nearby White Cross Street Market.

Booking terms
A credit or debit card is now required for all services to secure your booking. Should you need to cancel your appointment, we ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice. Please note we don’t accept cancellations via social media.
For online bookings
To secure your appointment, a small holding deposit of up to £0.60 per booking will be charged. This deposit is deducted from your final bill.
To reschedule more than 24 hours before your appointment, you can log into your online booking account. The deposit is then transferred to the new appointment.
To cancel more than 24 hours before your appointment, please call your branch in question or we won’t be able to refund your holding deposit (as this is our booking platform’s fee).
Should you cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours notice or you don’t show for your appointment, we will charge: 50% for any service or combination of multiple services booked. Should you not show-up twice at your scheduled appointment, the third no-show will be charged for the full 100% of the service.
For phone or in-branch bookings
When booking you in we will take a £1.00 deposit and keep your card details, should prefer us not to save your card a 50% deposit will be required for any service or for combination of multiple services booked. To cancel or amend a booking more than 24 hours before your appointment, please call your branch.
If you cancel or amend with less than 24 hours notice or don’t show for your appointment, the deposit will not be refunded. Should you not show-up twice at your scheduled appointment, we reserve the right to ask for a deposit covering the full 100% of the service.
Showing up late for appointments
If you think you will run late for more than 20mins, please call the salon asap. They can then see if the stylist can still fit you in. Should this not be possible or you show up later than 20mins this will count as a ‘no-show’ and the deposit will not be refunded.
Why we charge deposits for our bookings
We keep our schedule clear to see you. Not showing means we miss out and with such short notice can’t replace your slot with someone else. That is why we kindly ask you to give us sufficient notice as a courtesy to both our stylists and other clients. We can then help you to reschedule your appointment and find a more suitable time and date.

Colour info
For colour appointments in London & Berlin:
Please make sure you come in at least 48 hours before your appointment for a skin/patch test. If you are a regular customer of ours, please note a skin test done at ESHK is required at least every six months.
Sensitivity can change over time, due to some change in circumstances or a change in product formulation. With concerns around post-Covid skin sensitivity (even if you haven’t tested positive), we kindly ask all colour clients to have the skin test done. We just want to make sure you’ll be fine at the time of your appointment. You will be asked to sign a form with regards to this procedure when you come to have the test done. Without it we will unfortunately not be able to see you.
For all bleach customers please note we strongly advise you to not wash your hair 48 hours prior to your appointment. It is common to feel slight discomfort / irritation to the scalp up to 48 hours post appointment.
Our colour products are by Wella Professional (London, Berlin & Toronto), Schwarzkopf Professional (NY), Oway Organic (all salons) and Pulp Riot (London & Berlin). The Wella ColourTouch range used for semi-permanent colouring is ammonia free.

What services do you offer at your Barbican hair salon?
We have a talented team of hairstylists, colourists and colour technicians at our Barbican hairdresser in Clerkenwell that can handle a variety of hair services. From short haircuts like pixies and fades to long layered haircuts or voluminous haircuts such as wolfcut or shag looks. We do indeed not differentiate our pricing by gender but more by hair length or time required to achieve a certain haircut result. When it comes to a haircut at our Barbican hairdresser have two price brackets. To work on short hair like pixies or barber style cuts we offer our reduced ‘short back and sides’ rate. All still comes with the same love, care and attention from our stylists and lovely wash with fabulous hair care products. Where you’re going from long hair to short however, this falls under our ‘wash, cut & blowdry’ service. If in doubt, speak to our team to see which price applies for your specific requirements.
How much does a hair colour cost at your Barbican salon?
You might have searched for ‘Hair colour Clerkenwell’ and found a few answers. At our hair salon prices range from £57 to £250+. The price depends on hair length, hair coverage, thickness and final shade required. For some results you’ll require a combination of services. For example: to get certain results your hair may need lightening, that requires a bleach service first before the permanent colour is applied. We additionally recommend adding a bond builder to dye mix to help with colour penetration and hair health throughout the process. Our team will be happy to provide a consultation and a price quote so you can have an idea of the cost to achieve your dream hair.
I’ve had a hair colour done elsewhere which I’m unhappy with, can you help me fix it?
Absolutely! We are an East London hair salon that does a lot of hair colour work. We do often get clients that come to see us with this issue. It can be tricky to get certain results, however we believe it all comes down to the experience of the stylist / colourist. Everyone in our Barbican hairdresser team has years, sometimes decades, of that much needed knowledge. This is sharpened by continuously improving skills with various training throughout the year. Our team will also always be upfront and honest about what can be done or what they believe will look best on each client individually. Our goal is and always has been getting the best result.
Why do I need a skin test before my appointment for hair colour services?
We care about our clients, and although our products are all of professional salon quality, we want to avoid any kind of reaction to the hair dyes and bleaches that are used.
